What Students Said About the Course

I learned about funding disparities between Black and white land-grant institutions, how neoliberalism overwhelms urban agriculture, and how Black, Latinx, women and queer farmers navigate through oppressive systems.

I've recommended this course to other students in agriculture. Agriculture from the perspectrive of those whose voices are often silenced needs to be heard by everyone in agriculture.

The assignments reaffirmed my understanding of critical issues within agriculture and helped build bridges to deeper understanding of the content areas.

Dr. Cropps gave great feedback on the direction we were taking on our research and it helped me a lot with my own research.

This course fills a large void in Purdue Agriculture. It provides evidence that these topics are necessary to truly understand agricultural systems.

The weekly reading reviews helped me to synthesize my knowledge and summarize everything I learned.

The assignments made me dissect what I was reading so I could gain a greater understanding of the topic.
