Torrie A. Cropps earned her doctorate in Agricultural Education from Purdue University. She earned her Bachelor's in Agricultural Economics and her Master's in Agricultural Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Torrie has four years of professional experience in education. She taught secondary Agricultural Education for one year and taught science at the middle and high school levels for three years. She also has eight years of experience working with various summer enrichment programs. 

Torrie has led departmental and campus seminars on graduate student career preparation and socialization, mentorship and advising, and qualitative research methods. Torrie also designed and taught Critical Perspectives in Agriculture, a course designed to highlight marginalized voices and experiences in agriculture broadly. She is currently co-teaching Energy, Water, & the Environment.

Torrie’s research interests include the socialization, mentoring, and advising of marginalized graduate students and the development of scholars.

Torrie is currently a Research Scientist in STEM Education at The University of Texas at Dallas.
