Torrie A. Cropps, PhD earned her doctorate in Agricultural Education from Purdue University. She earned her Bachelor's in Agricultural Economics and her Master's in Agricultural Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Dr. Cropps has four years of professional experience in K12 education. She taught secondary Agricultural Education for one year and taught science at the middle and high school levels for three years. She also has eight years of experience working with various summer enrichment programs. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Dr. Cropps' personal research focuses on scholar and professional development through socialization, mentoring, and advising processes. Effective education, role modeling, and experience of these processes help to cultivate supportive learning environments that enhance not only retention in a program, but in agriculture post-graduation. Her future research has implications for student development, student experiences, faculty development, and career readiness.​​​

Dr. Cropps is currently a Research Scientist in STEM Education at The University of Texas at Dallas. Her research at UTD examines STEM faculty hiring practices. She also lectures in environmental sciences.

When she's not teaching and conducting research, Dr. Cropps enjoys listening to 90s RnB, listening to podcasts, and watching silly shows on [insert streaming service].
